The Carlton for Men Trunk Show
When Carlton for Men first opened its doors, Carlton Simms sponsored his first Trunk Show. He has had trunk shows every year since then, one in the fall and one in the spring.
Trunk shows are a tradition that goes back to the 1800s when salesmen from New York City would carry trunks of clothing to stores around the country. Since the stores then did not have the room to offer many choices in clothing for purchase, the customers would come to trunk shows to see a wider selection of clothing items.
A similar situation exists today. Carlton for Men displays products distributed by a variety of vendors, but can't display everything in each clothing line. The Carlton for Men Trunk Shows give each vendor the opportunity to display its entire line. Vendors bring examples of every style they offer and samples of all of the fabrics available. Men can custom-order suits, tailored to fit, according to their style and fabric specifications.
The Trunk Show doesn't just offer suits. Customers can also choose from custom-made dress shirts. Vendors also display their entire lines of men's shoes.
